Stranger Things Have Happened is an English-speaking group from Groningen, the Netherlands, that has been performing regular comedy shows since May 2009. The group consists of actors and writers who have been working together for several years in the Groningen student theatre scene. They currently host a weekly open improv comedy night in O'Ceallaigh Irish Pub on Monday nights and perform a full-length improv show every first Thursday of the month in Usva INTheatre. In addition to this, the group has a weekly slot on the Happy Hour FM show on Oog Radio and is working on both serious and comedic theatre projects.

NEWS

New Stranger

The Strangers are very pleased to welcome Chad to the group! Keep an eye on the members section for more information on this mysterious fellow soon.

On a much sadder note, they have had to say goodbye to Aree, who has gone even further north. He will be continuing his research at Trondheim in Norway, and thus will have some difficulty in joining the Strangers on stage.

Monday night at O’Ceallaigh

After a nice summer break, the open improv sessions at O’Ceallaigh have started again! The Strangers host improv comedy sessions at the Irish pub, every Monday at 21.00. These sessions are open to anyone, so feel free to volunteer for games. The Strangers meet beforehand at 19.30, upstairs at O’Ceallaigh, to warm up and practice some improv games. You are also very welcome to join in this warm-up session if you are thinking about joining in with the sessions (but by no means is this a requirement).

North

STHH have not been sitting around doing nothing all summer. A few weeks ago, the cast and crew of ‘North’ spent two weeks shooting the first two episodes in and around Groningen. North is a comedy series, written and directed by Thomas Mook, that concerns the lives and adventures of a group of international students in Groningen. For more information, see the North section of this website.

Here is a little teaser to give you an idea of what they were up to!

Every Monday

Come to O’Ceallaigh Irish Pub every Monday at 21.00 to watch and (if you like) participate in the open improv sessions hosted by the strangers.
